The central inspiration for the performance was the opening verse of Slovenia’s national anthem, Zdravljica by France Prešeren:
“God’s blessing on all nations, who long to see that bright day…”
a universal message of peace, coexistence, and mutual respect that remains deeply relevant today.
The programme guided the audience on a journey from the echoes of prehistory—the resonance of the Neanderthal flute—through the living tradition of Slovenian folk music, including the world-renowned legacy of the Avsenik brothers, all the way to contemporary original rhythms.
Slovenian folk music is a living memory carrying the diverse voices of its regions. The artists emphasize that such richness is vital not only culturally, but also socially and economically. Respecting global diversity and interdependence can help us overcome today’s crises, transcend the so-called “clash of civilizations,” and move towards peaceful coexistence of cultures—in Slovenia, in Europe, and throughout the world.
